ABOUT DOURO RIVER, SAO JAO DA PESQUEIRA

The Douro is the highest-flow river of the Iberian Peninsula. It rises near Duruelo de la Sierra in the Spanish province of Soria, meanders south briefly then flows generally west through the northern part of the Meseta Central in Castile and León into northern Portugal. Ervedosa do Douro is a civil parish in the municipality of São João da Pesqueira, Portugal. Although it’s a scenic drive from Porto, with only a two hour drive by car, it is too beautiful not to spend a few days and explore the beautiful area of this natural phenomenon everyone talks about around the world. One may also reach the area by helicopter or by private jet easily accessible from Porto’s international airport or Villa Real’s private jet airport 1 hour’s drive away but one may also arrive by boat on the Douro River 2h30mins from Porto, or by helicopter which is only a 30mins scenic flight.
