Nestled between vineyards and rolling hills, Cetena Rossa is a sprawling farmhouse with a 6-bedroom main residence, 2-bedroom guest house and expansive gathering spaces.

The Casali di Casole estate dates back to the year 998. Here, you will be welcomed in the grand European tradition. Exquisitely appointed, each and every accommodation combines Old World Tuscan charm with modern luxuries and sublime comfort with elegance and sophistication.

A Brief History

The estate was built and christened Querceto Manor in the late 10th century and often hosted the political exiles of nearby Siena until it fell into decline starting in the 15th century. Owned and reconstructed during the 19th and 20th centuries by the Bargagli family of Siena – esteemed local aristocracy – the castle rose to a prominent position in the region, as the surrounding estate was a leading agricultural producer with 31 farms on 2200 acres. During the late 20th century, the estate was owned by prominent Italian film director Luchino Visconti, who often entertained European and Hollywood luminaries on the property.

ABOUT THE AREA

Casole d’Elsa is a comune in the Province of Siena in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 50 kilometres southwest of Florence and about 25 kilometres west of Siena. Take the time to explore the neighboring sites from the Church of San Niccolo built in the 14th Century specially recognized for its 17th century frescoes by Rutischino and the high altar. The Bell tower is the main highlight of this charming town although the tombs of Beltramo Aringhieri are not to be missed alongside the Museum of Sacred Art with works by Domenico di Michelino and Alessandro Casolani to name a few. World-renowned Verrocchio Art Centre offers fine art courses, painting holidays, sculpture courses, studios all in Casole d’Elsa.

Tuscany often is synonymous to wine country, but it does not always have to be so. The coastline of the Adriatic sea is only 45-90 mins away from this villa and can be enjoyed for a range of 50-100km stretch of coastline villages, beaches, ports, medieval towns and other resorts from Punta Ala to Follonico o even Cecina in the region of Livorno.
