Tinos

The enchanting Tinos island is located about 20 minutes away from Mykonos by ferry. Your ideal day trip whilst island hopping. This is where the spiritual heart of Greece beats. In addition to its religious atmosphere, the island is known for the traditional architecture of its villages and its charming sandy beaches.

EXPLORE OUR VILLAS

EXPERIENCES

  • Visit the Church of Virgin Mary Evangelistria  – A unique location to pilgrimage in Greece, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary especially on August 15th
  • Intense nightlife in the old part of town, shopping (for marble fanlights, honey, cheeses, art works from the School of Fine Arts at Pyrgos, baskets at Volax), as well as heavenly swimming, sunning, sailing and exploring. Take a picnic, your snorkeling gear, your sketch book and camera, and explore. Mykonos is just a short trip across the water if it all gets a bit too tasteful
  • May/June and September/October are perfect for wild flowers, beaches to yourself, and characterful tavernas open after long walks on windless days to search out the indigenous porcupines and badgers.

RESTAURANTS WE LOVE

Take a wine tour in Tinos, blessed with fertile land and a generation of wine makers returning to their homes to foster centuries-old traditions of grape growing, Tinos now boasts seven producers with up to five labels each. The varieties local to the island range from a fresh Asyrtiko (a refreshingly dry white) and the dark and deeply spicy Marvotragano, which ages phenomenally.

Lunch as an experience in Tinos – for lunch with a view and an expertly composed seafood menu from perhaps the island’s most popular foodie spot, look to To Thalassaki. On the beach at Ormos Isternion on the south west of the island, this restaurant takes bookings in advance and will likely not have a table for those without a reservation.

Make your way to Aetofolia and dine at the family run taverna, Sta Fys’Aera. Where Km0 applies the best is here, all food grown  locally, the taverna’s meze dishes is the dish not to miss, unique and special all the way. And the not to be missed Spiced Louza (smoked pork) accompanied with wild greens tea, served up in a tea pot as a side to your greens order and mouth watering courgette salad, finely chopped….to be washed down with the taverna’s privatea lable raki.
