Where to stay on Mykonos

Luxury villas in Mykonos are divided by area, and the area decides the week. Agios Lazaros and Psarou are the beach-club side, Mykonos Town is the nightlife, and the quieter west side near Ornos and Aleomandra is the space-and-privacy option a short drive from town. Villa Tama is the Insider Villas house on that west side: perched on a hillside above a semi-private sandy beach, with a private pool, sea views, and enough bedrooms for a group of up to 14 that wants to stay under one roof rather than split across hotel rooms.

Europe accomodations
Villa Tama looks out at the sea, the sunset, and the sacred islands of Delos and Rhenia, five minutes' drive from Mykonos Town.

A boat to Delos or a table at Kiki's Taverna is handled directly, not through a call centre.

who it's for

Who this Mykonos villa collection is for

Mykonos works differently depending on who you’re travelling with, so here’s how the island breaks down by trip type and area.

  • Friend groups of six to ten who want beach clubs by day and Mykonos Town by night. Psarou and Paraga are the beach-club strip, close to Scorpios and Alemagou, and a private base with its own pool means the group is not paying beach-club prices for every daytime hour.
  • Couples on an anniversary or honeymoon who want the atmosphere and not the crowds. Dinner at Noema, a walk through Little Venice at dusk, then somewhere private to go back to; a base a short drive from Mykonos Town keeps the energy close without staying in the middle of it.
  • Multi-family groups of ten to fourteen who want one house instead of six hotel rooms. Villa Tama is on the west side of the island and sleeps 14, so breakfast happens in one kitchen rather than six room-service orders.

Luxury villas in Agios Lazaros and Psarou

Agios Lazaros sits on elevated ground above Psarou, about 5 km from Mykonos Town, and it is one of the most exclusive addresses on the island. The draw is privacy above Psarou beach: houses here are high enough for sea views over the coast below, and the position keeps the area quiet compared to the beach itself. Luxury villas in this part of Mykonos tend to have infinity pools built to face the water, with terraces set up for a full day outside without ever needing to leave the property. Psarou is the beach itself, home to Nammos and the run of designer beach clubs that make up Mykonos’s daytime scene. Staying near Psarou puts the beach within walking distance, so the day can move from a private pool to a sunbed at Nammos and back without much planning. This stretch is where to look if the beach-club scene is the point of the week. Villa Tama is on the west side instead, five minutes from Mykonos Town, so a Psarou day is a drive rather than a walk.

MYKONOS, PAROS, ANTIPAROS, NAXOS, MILOS, SANTORINI

dream destinations
Mykonos is in the same Cyclades cluster as Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Milos and Santorini, all reachable by boat or helicopter across the Aegean. Delos and Rhenia are the closest crossing, and Villa Tama looks straight at them.

Mykonos Town and west-side villas near Ornos and Aleomandra

Mykonos Town, also called Chora, is the whitewashed centre of the island, with narrow alleys full of boutiques and the Little Venice waterfront at dusk. This is where the nightlife lives, so a base within a short drive of Town suits guests who want dinner at Noema or Sea Satin and a stroll back through the alleys afterwards. It is also the busiest, loudest part of Mykonos after dark, which is why Mykonos villas worth booking are usually a short drive outside the centre rather than inside it. Ornos and Aleomandra, along with a few other residential pockets, sit a short drive from Mykonos Town and are calmer at night. Ornos and Platis Gialos beaches nearby are calmer and more family-friendly than the Psarou beach-club strip, with less noise and an easier pace during the day. Villa Tama is on the west side of the island in this quieter stretch, and it sleeps 14, which makes it the collection’s anchor for larger groups who want space and privacy without giving up a short drive into town.

Villa Tama is perched on a hillside above a semi-private sandy beach, looking out at the sunset and the sacred islands of Delos and Rhenia.

Best time to book a luxury villa in Mykonos

June and September are the shoulder months, with sea temperatures around 21-23°C and far fewer people on the beaches than in peak summer. Mykonos still has its pace, beach clubs open, restaurants full, but without the peak crush of late July and August, and villa rates tend to be better value in these months too. July and August are Mykonos at full volume: the beach clubs and nightlife run at their busiest, the island is hottest, and the meltemi wind picks up from mid-July to mid-August, which can affect boat trips and fast-ferry schedules. The best villas in Mykonos get requested 4 to 6 months out for these dates.
