menorca holiday villa offering the best experience

Located just outside of the small town of Alaior towards the interior of Menorca, this carefully restored 19th-century manor home was discovered in 2012 by the owners in almost complete disrepair. Designated Grade 1 historic status, the home occupies the site of an ancient stone quarry and was built within its walls.

Situated on over two and a half acres of rural terraced landscape (all of which will be opened in subsequent years when restoration progresses), the owners embarked on a painstaking three-year restoration of both the structure and gardens and the house made its official debut in 2015.

The home’s historic status means that all original exterior and interior details needed to be protected and preserved and the redesign has successfully integrated the ancient details and materials and reinterpreted it as a sophisticated and contemporary residence.

The main living area features the classic beam and stone structural characteristics with graceful arches and a lighter and more expansive layout and large glass doors that open out to the gardens. The fully equipped kitchen has been completely modernized but with a rustic country feel and can serve up to ten in the dining area. With four bedrooms and three baths, the house is spacious and can sleep up to eight.

The restoration of the gardens will continue for years to come with traditional Mediterranean orchards, olive groves and a vegetable garden. The unique swimming pool was converted from an ancient stone water tank and features lovely shaded areas for lounging under the pergolas.

This archeologically important home can now be enjoyed and appreciated for it’s historic beauty and many comforts.

A short 7 minute walk to 3 different children’s playgrounds within the village.

MENORCA’S MELLOW SIDE

Just a five-minute walk to the small interior town of Alaior, which has been happily unspoiled by tourism so far, its central location within the island puts both the northern and southern beaches within close proximity including the idyllic Binigaus and Son Bou each under fifteen minutes by car.

The easternmost Balearic island, Menorca is mellower and quieter than it’s boisterous neighboring islands of Ibiza and Mallorca and features the twin seaside towns of Maó and medina-like Ciutadella.

A UNESCO declared Biosphere Reserve, the 216 km of coastline and forested interiors including the Parc Natural S’Albufera d’es Grau are some of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.
