ABOUT SOLLER, MALLORCA, SPAIN
The town of Sóller in the northwest of Mallorca became wealthy because of the valley’s abundant citrus groves. In the 19th century, when the area became isolated from the rest of Mallorca by mountains, the farmers shipped their oranges to France from the nearby west coast at Port de Sóller. Many locals went to work in France and returned – their fortunes duly made – to build some of the amazing properties that grace this town today.
Your hosts, Barbara and Martin, will share with you their daily life, the local life of Sóller, and its inhabitants. Going to the local market, picking fresh oranges, tasting olive oil in the oldest Tafona in Mallorca, baking traditional bread with organic products, walking between almond trees, or enjoying a Mediterranean lunch in the countryside.
