Ten minutes from Porreres village, you’ll pull up into the private driveway and find a discreet and hidden treasure. With its open campo view, this old and traditional structure was entirely recomposed in 2021 from traditional materials.

We swoon for the feminine curves of the whitewashed walls and warm eggshell polished and river stone floors. The redesign took cues from Balearic tradition and modern living, and an airiness pervades every room.

AROUND MALLORCA

Casa Luis is located on the southeast side of the island, a thirty-minute drive to one of the most beautiful beaches Portocolom, Sananyí and Artà.

The lovely nearby town of Pollenca, a thirty-minute drive, is made up of winding lanes full of little boutiques and gift shops selling locally crafted goods around the Placa Major. Make a stop at the 18th-century Nostra Senyora Del Angels church with its stunning rose window and the Museum of Pollenca, with its collection of prehistoric sculptures and contemporary art. It also hosts the town’s celebrated classical music festival and the Pollenca Art Fair at the beginning of November.

Palma is a 45-minute drive and these days has become more like a mini Barcelona, with stylish bars, cafes, restaurants and shopping and the stunning Cathedral of Palma La Seu at its heart.

Don’t miss nearby Santa Catalina food market on Saturday afternoons with its “Tardeo” time that turns the streets into a big meeting point of people, food and fun. The old fisherman’s village of Portixol just outside of Palma has become the new hot spot to live, and is an ideal spot for a stroll at the beach and some tapas.
