What Awaits You With a Luxury Ski Holiday?

Ski Butler Service, Breakfast and Skis Ready, Ski-in and Ski Out, Prestige Residence, Sud Resort, Ultima Courchevel Belvédère

Courchevel Belvédère

Every ski holiday guarantees snow-covered slopes, but a luxury ski trip elevates your experience to new levels. Imagine long days of skiing in beautiful scenery, then retreating to your five-star accommodation, where no small detail is overlooked.

Choosing glamorous ski resorts like Courchevel and Verbier allows you to enjoy scenes, including Michelin-starred restaurants, designer shopping, and upscale wine bars.

However, the true extravagance lies within the walls of your private chalet.

Luxury Ski-In Ski-Out Chalets

When you book a luxury ski-in ski-out ski chalet in Europe, you benefit from a fully catered experience, where a dedicated concierge will ensure the perfect stay. These properties boast beautiful exteriors and modern interiors, with an array of amenities.

From expansive en-suite bedrooms to private jacuzzis, swimming pools, and cinema rooms, you’ll love returning to your chalet after long days of skiing.

When you book with us, you get more than a chalet. You get people who actually know the resort, the restaurants, the instructors, the tricks. It makes a difference.

So, before we reveal packing essentials, let’s explore what you won’t need to pack.

Bathroom Essentials

Nothing beats a warm bath or shower after a day on the slopes, and our private chalets come with soft and fluffy towels to keep you warm. You’ll also find luxurious bathrobes, slippers, and other essentials that your housekeeper will replace regularly.

Kitchen Equipment

The difference between a standard chalet and a luxury property often comes down to details. While you can benefit from private chefs and transportation to nearby restaurants, each kitchen is fully stocked to accommodate family meals.

Plus, your concierge can arrange a fully stocked refrigerator before you arrive, ensuring absolute convenience.

Entertainment

Many European resorts – especially those in Switzerland and France – offer extravagant apres-ski scenes, but families can also enjoy retreating to their private chalet.

For example, Chalets Belvedere in Courchevel has a private cinema room for fun-filled movie nights, while Le Grand Chalet in Crans-Montana offers a dedicated arcade room, cigar lounge, and private cinema.

Wellness Items

Imagine relaxing in a hot jacuzzi with a glass of Champagne, or indulging in the ultimate wellness experience in your private spa. Many of our luxury private chalets come with saunas, private therapists, and everything else you need to pamper yourself.

Your concierge can arrange for a massage therapist to visit your chalet, and some of our properties even include private gyms.

Essentials for Hitting the Slopes

Luxury Ski Holiday Packing Essentials

Whether you choose to ski or snowboard, your time on the slopes should be a stress-free experience. Choosing the right ski equipment ensures that you can appreciate endless days of skiing, where you’ll stay warm and dry.

Instead of packing a range of items, think about what you need and let your dedicated concierge handle the rest.

For example, we can arrange equipment hire, including boots, skis, and snowboards – leaving you extra space for clothing.

Safety Essentials

Safety equipment, such as UV goggles and helmets, is a must-have for your ski adventure. Luckily, you can keep yourself and your family safe while also staying stylish on the slopes, thanks to brands like Dior and Bottega Veneta.

When it comes to ski helmets, focus on brands like POC, Porsche, and Moncler for style and substance.

Insider Tip: Instead of bringing safety essentials with you, our high-end ski rental parents can deliver everything to your chalet. We recommend using these services for helmets, as they save vital space when packing.

Ski Clothing

The sheer popularity of skiing means that designer brands everywhere are creating stunning clothing that will keep you warm and maintain style while you glide down the slopes.

Remember to pack essential items like thermal base layers (merino wool is excellent for keeping warm), ski socks for cold conditions, and insulated jackets.

Fusalp, Fendi, and BOGNER offer sleek ski jackets and suits that will keep you warm and stylish.

Optional Extras

Small items can elevate your entire ski experience and keep you comfortable. For example, investing in heated gloves with touchscreen capability ensures connectivity while you’re on the slopes, while heated insoles keep your feet warm.

We also recommend stocking up on lip balm and an SPF stick if you’re planning a family ski vacation

Apres-Ski

Every ski destination has a unique Apres-ski scene. Courchevel is perfect for upscale wine bars and fine dining, while Verbier and Crans-Montana epitomize Swiss refinement.

Italian ski resorts like Cervinia are more laid back, with restaurants serving traditional cuisine, while Lech in Austria is a favorite among royalty.

Naturally, you’ll want to pack for a range of activities, including fine dining and evenings at upscale bars.

Dining Out

When dining at five-star restaurants, following the recommended dress code is essential. Most restaurants require elegant casual wear, including suits and smart pants for men. Women should wear evening dresses, or elegant pants and blouses.

Children should also be dressed appropriately for fine dining, but you’ll also find plenty of family restaurants at larger resorts.

Dining In

Many of our chalets come with a private chef, but your concierge can also arrange for a chef to visit and prepare a gourmet meal. Tailored pants, cocktail dresses, and elegant casual clothing are perfect for a luxurious evening of delicious food and fine wine.

Chalet Life & Excursions

The Lodge Summer Hiking 2

Summer Hiking

Imagine relaxing in front of a roaring fire with a glass of wine, or chilling out in the jacuzzi while your children enjoy a heated swimming pool. Evenings in the comfort of your chalet should be about relaxation and indulgence, so be sure to pack plenty of warm clothing.

Adult Essentials

Cashmere jumpers and comfortable loungewear are ideal for cosy evenings, while shearling jackets will keep you warm during leisurely strolls.

It’s also a good idea to pack swimwear, as many chalets have swimming pools and jacuzzi facilities.

Children’s Essentials

When packing for children, focus on comfort. While luxury chalets will be fully equipped with games and entertainment options, packing activity books will keep younger children busy.

Other essentials include warm pajamas, their favorite soft toy, and extras like security blankets. If you’re planning to dine out, make sure you pack smart-casual clothing for your children, too, as many restaurants have dress codes.

Family Activities

Where you stay determines the activities available to your family, but European ski resorts offer plenty of opportunities for adventure, relaxation, and culture.

If you’re heading to Courchevel, we recommend taking the children to Aquamotion, an expansive indoor leisure center with a swimming pool and wellness facilities.

Your concierge can also arrange panoramic helicopter tours, dog-sledding rides, hot-air balloon trips, and an array of other activities for thrill-seekers.

Be sure to pack swimsuits and casual clothing for days out, including warm jackets and jeans for children.

Nice to Haves

While all of our private chalets are fully equipped, you can further elevate your experience by packing a few extra items.

For example, matching family outfits are the perfect opportunity for beautiful photographs in the snow, while packing your favorite book is ideal for cosy evenings in front of the fire.

You may also want to take some food and drinks, including your favorite tea and coffee. However, if you contact us beforehand, we may be able to arrange for these items to be waiting for you upon your arrival.

Technology and Travel Essentials

The Lodge Skiing Verbier - The Best Winter Escapes in Euopre

When it comes to technology, your private chalet will have everything you need.

However, power banks can be beneficial for long excursions, as they keep children’s smartphones and tablets fully charged. In most cases, you won’t need a universal adaptor, as your private chalet includes kitchen and entertainment equipment.

Travel Essentials:

  • AirTags: Using AirTags ensures a smooth transition from the airport to your transportation.
  • Travel Documents: Put your passport, transfer details, ID, and other important documents in one folder to ensure smooth check-ins.
  • Insurance: Your travel insurance coverage should include winter sports. Keep the printed version for emergencies and store a digital copy on your phone.
  • Ski Passes: Our experts can arrange ski passes for you and deliver them to your chalet.
  • Emergency Contacts: When you arrive at your chalet, we’ll ensure you know how to reach your concierge, private chauffeur, and other professionals who will help ensure the perfect stay.

Olivier was absolutely fantastic — he consistently went above and beyond to ensure our holiday was exceptional. The only minor disappointment was that, upon arrival, the villa didn’t feel fully prepared for check-in, which we later learned was due to the condition it had been left in by the previous guest. That said, we completely understand these things can happen, and Olivier handled the situation swiftly and professionally, rectifying everything within 24 hours.
