1: Tuscany, Italy

A Tuscan castle in Tuscany wine country

Thanks to its stunning countryside and rich history, Tuscany never fails to captivate and inspire. If you’re planning a corporate retreat, Tuscany offers something for everyone, with plenty of vineyards and historic cities, including Siena, Florence, and Pisa.

Plus, the area is home to Italy’s most prestigious vineyards, with each offering tours and tasting sessions.

If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat, Tuscany offers numerous opportunities for team bonding, including hiking, historic tours, truffle hunting, and group cooking classes.

Where to Stay

Tuscany has a range of hotels available, but staying in the Castle of Monsignore is an experience like no other. Up to 20 guests can enjoy this historic building, with a heated swimming pool and lavish rooms. You can also hire a private chef and a chauffeur service.

2: Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Large luxury villa rental in Mallorca

Mallorca is one of Spain’s most popular destinations, with abundant sunshine, beaches, and laid-back culture. Why should you make Mallorca your go-to location for a corporate retreat? Well, it offers the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation.

From the bustling city of Palma to the beautiful beaches of Southwest Mallorca, teams can enjoy historical tours, quad biking, water sports, and Tapas tours.

Many companies also create scavenger hunts, which are perfect for team-building and let employees immerse themselves in the culture of Mallorca’s Old Town.

Where to Stay

If you’re planning a corporate retreat to Mallorca, we recommend staying at Los Leones, which is in the heart of Alcudia and accommodates up to 20 guests. Enjoy expansive gardens, with a swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Or, if you’d prefer a remote country estate, Tower Villa boasts traditional Spanish architecture and a large event space.

3: Les Alpilles, France

Le Mas Villa

Les Apilles is one of France’s hidden gems, boasting a wealth of Provençal charm and timeless countryside. With its abundant limestone hills, vineyards, and olive groves, the area is ideal for relaxing corporate retreats focusing on recharging.

The area offers a range of activities, including vineyard tastings, guided tours of places that inspired Van Gogh’s art, Provençal cooking classes, and exploring the villages of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Maussane-les-Alpilles – both of which boast a rich history.

Where to Stay

Properties in Les Alpilles combine traditional architecture and luxurious amenities. Both Le Mas de Chabran and Le Mas de Castillone are excellent options for your retreat, with plenty of bedrooms, large swimming pools, and expansive gardens.

Mas de Chabran offers a reception space, while Le Mas de Castillone has wellness facilities, including a steam room and sauna.

4: Ibiza, Spain

The Mega Villa

Ibiza is so much more than a party island, and it’s one of the most popular corporate retreat locations for creative agencies and startups. Aside from its year-round sunshine and beautiful beaches that offer watersports, the island also provides a range of wellness activities.

From yoga sessions and spa days to full fitness experiences and team-building activities, Ibiza combines productivity with relaxation.

Your employees can enjoy a range of art tours, boat trips, hiking trails, and award-winning restaurants offering unique dining experiences.

Both The Mega Villa and Villa Serena are ideal for corporate retreats, with their modern architecture and proximity to local beaches. The Mega Villa has a beautiful ballroom and sleeps up to 20 guests, while Villa Serena offers a more intimate vibe.

5: Douro Valley, Portugal

La Quinta holiday villa in Douro Valley, Portugal. The best places to stay in Portugal.

La Quinta

Portugal’s Douro Valley is a UNESCO-listed region that never fails to inspire even the most cynical of people. It’s impossible not to be captivated by this stunning region and its rich wine-making history.

Naturally, the top activities in the Douro Valley include wine tasting and vineyard tours, but you should also consider river tours, which allow your employees to recharge and take in the beautiful scenery.

Don’t forget to make time for a group cooking class, and encourage digital detoxes through wellness activities that include spa days and nature walks.

Where to Stay

When staying in the Douro Valley, La Quinta is your perfect retreat. The vineyard estate sleeps up to 15 guests and boasts complete privacy. With sprawling vineyards, on-site wine tasting, and private river access, La Quinta is all about recharging in nature.

6: The Highlands, Scotland

Loch Earn Farmsteadholiday villa in Lochearnhead, Scotland

Loch Earn Farmstead

The Scottish Highlands are known for their rugged beauty and majestic scenery spanning miles. From mysterious lochs to impressive mountain ranges and rolling hills, the area is ideal for corporate retreats, offering a range of team-building experiences.

From wild swimming to taking part in traditional Highland games and adventure activities, there’s something for everyone here. While this part of Scotland is remote, it’s also close to Inverness, a historic city with gourmet restaurants, cultural tours, and a rich history.

Corporate trips to the Highlands offer relaxation, adventure, and culture – making this location a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Where to Stay:

For a company retreat in Scotland, look no further than Loch Earn Farmstead. This secluded estate is located in the heart of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and offers an inspiring setting. This expansive estate is ideal for executive teams or small groups seeking total seclusion, panoramic views, and direct access to some of the best outdoor activities in Scotland.

There are multiple walking and cycling trails, as well as fishing and water sports on Loch Earn. Easy access to local golf courses means there’s plenty for your team to do between meetings. The main house and cottage can comfortably accommodate up to 15 guests, allowing you to easily combine focused work sessions with true downtime and relaxation.

7: Swiss Alps, Switzerland

Les Deux Chalets holiday villa in Crans Montana, Switzerland, winter chalet with spa services

Les Deux Chalets

Large international companies often host retreats in the Swiss Alps, thanks to the endless luxury. With its dramatic mountain ranges and beautiful lakes, skiing will naturally come to mind, but the Alps offer so much more.

With plenty of five-star resorts to explore and some of the world’s best restaurants, including La Bouitte and Chez Vrony, teams can enjoy a luxurious escape focusing on productivity and rejuvenation.

While winter is the most popular time to visit the Alps, summer offers a host of activities, including hiking, mountain yoga, and wellness retreats.

Where to Stay

As you can probably imagine, the Swiss Alps are full of luxurious chalets, but we recommend staying in Les Deux Chalets or Le Grand Chalet.

Both properties offer a range of facilities, including arcade rooms and cigar lounges. Guests can also benefit from ski-in and ski-out features and saunas.

8: Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is Spain’s most dynamic city and a European leader in technology, entrepreneurship, and design.

It’s also one of the most popular locations for corporate retreats, thanks to a combination of energising cities, laid-back beaches, and luxury accommodation.

Despite its fast-paced vibe, Barcelona also prioritises relaxation, meaning you can hold team-building and strategy sessions, then let your employees unwind on the beach. There are also a variety of wellness activities to explore, including spas and mindfulness sessions.

Art tours, flamenco dancing sessions, and gourmet cuisine are excellent options for rewarding high-performing employees.

Where to Stay

While Barcelona has plenty of hotels for corporate retreats, the Grand Hyatt Barcelona offers a range of executive suites, rooms, and expansive meeting spaces.

You can also choose between different packages, giving your employees unique dining experiences and the opportunity to explore Barcelona’s cultural sites.

Why the Right Retreat (and Setting) Matters

Let’s be honest: not every team member is excited about a company retreat, especially if it feels forced or disrupts their personal lives. As a manager or organizer, you know real value comes from retreats balancing productivity with genuine downtime, comfort, and choice.

Why Villas Work Better for Teams

At Insider Villas, we believe that a private villa offers more than just luxury; it provides your team with space, flexibility, and a sense of belonging. Here’s how our approach directly addresses the common concerns of today’s corporate teams:

  • Privacy and comfort: With your own villa, your group sets the pace. There’s no need to share common spaces with strangers or adhere to a rigid hotel schedule.
  • Flexible Schedules: You decide the agenda. Build in downtime, offer optional activities, and let employees unwind or connect as they wish.
  • Personalized experiences: We plan activities around your team’s interests, abilities, and dietary needs. There’s no forced fun or one-size-fits-all programs.
  • Work-Life Balance: Our villas feel more like a retreat than a conference. Attendees can truly disconnect, recharge, and return home feeling energized, not drained.
  • Discretion and Security: Your team can stay together in a secure, private environment, which makes it easier to handle sensitive topics or strategy sessions.
  • No Hidden Costs: With all amenities under one roof, including meeting spaces, breakout rooms, dining areas, and wellness facilities, there’s less nickel-and-diming and more transparency.

Designed for Modern & Forward-Thinking Teams

We understand that your group includes people of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities. That’s why we’re here to help:

  • We accommodate all dietary restrictions and preferences discreetly.
  • Select activities that suit a range of interests and physical abilities (which are always optional).
  • We plan logistics that minimize disruption to your employees’ lives. Travel, childcare, and personal time are respected.

In short: With Insider Villas, you don’t just book a venue, you create a retreat your team actually wants to attend. No forced bonding, no cookie-cutter programs, just the right setting for people to connect and recharge in their own way.

6 Tips to Maximize Your ROI from Your Corporate Retreat

Company retreats are an investment of time, money, and trust. The most successful retreats provide clear value for your team and your bottom line. Here’s how leaders can ensure that every dollar counts:

1. Set clear, measurable goals.

Define what success looks like before you go. Is your main objective team alignment, problem solving, brainstorming, or rewarding your top performers? Make your goals clear to everyone attending.

2. Build a thoughtful agenda.

Alternate focused work sessions with real downtime. Allow for unstructured time—some of your best ideas will come when people are relaxed and not working.

3. Personalize the Experience.

Let team members have input on activities, food, and schedules. The more comfortable and involved people feel, the more engaged and productive they’ll be.

4. Capture key takeaways.

Assign someone to document the main ideas, action points, and decisions made during the retreat. Share these after the retreat to maintain momentum and accountability.

5. Measure and follow up.

Send a short, anonymous survey after the retreat. Ask what worked, what didn’t, and how the experience could be improved next time. Track business outcomes tied to the retreat, such as boosts in team morale, collaboration, or project delivery.

6. Think long-term.

A well-planned retreat can strengthen relationships, reduce turnover, and create alignment that will pay off for months to come. Use the momentum to kickstart new initiatives, solve long-standing issues, or launch new projects.

Are Company Retreats Worth It?

While corporate retreats are an investment, many companies agree that the long-term results, including reduced remote worker loneliness and better job performance, are worth it.

The benefits of company retreats include:

  • Better teamwork and communication
  • Opportunities for strategizing and innovation
  • Improved employee morale
  • Bringing remote and hybrid employees together
  • Reinforcing and building a strong company culture

FAQs

How much do corporate retreats cost?

It depends on where you choose to go, how many employees are attending, and your accommodation. Many companies choose luxury retreats for high-performing employees and senior management, which can cost over $10,000 per person.

Opting for a private villa can be more affordable than a hotel, and working with an events company will give you access to packages that reduce your costs.

How long do retreats usually last?

Corporate retreats to Europe from the USA usually last three to four days, allowing plenty of time for team-building activities.

Four-day retreats are ideal for meetings, relaxation, and team building, while three-day retreats suit senior management teams.

What is the difference between a retreat and a conference?

Conferences are more formal than retreats, as they typically involve lots of meetings, strategy sessions, and networking. Company retreats focus more on team-building activities, internal networking, and wellness.

Opting for a retreat helps you build a stronger company culture and motivate employees, while conferences are more professional and focused on business outcomes rather than personal growth and development.

How can you ensure that our team enjoys the retreat?

Plan it with input from your team. Ask them about their preferred activities, food, and structure. Offer choices and don’t make attendance or participation mandatory for every activity.

Our holiday to the Seychelles organised by Insider Villas was absolutely faultless, the itinerary, the hotels, the recommendations , in fact simply everything, an absolute 5 star experience. Truly a trip to paradise. Would do it all again in a heartbeat. We can’t thank Olí, Anna and team enough.

Olivier was absolutely fantastic — he consistently went above and beyond to ensure our holiday was exceptional. The only minor disappointment was that, upon arrival, the villa didn’t feel fully prepared for check-in, which we later learned was due to the condition it had been left in by the previous guest. That said, we completely understand these things can happen, and Olivier handled the situation swiftly and professionally, rectifying everything within 24 hours.
